The Brief

After 14 years of continued and successful growth, PDL Solutions purchased further business premises, with the idea to provide two conference rooms, equipped with the latest audio visual technology to showcase the company to their visiting client base.

Michael Williams, Managing Director of PDL Solutions, approached Universal AV to provide a brief that would turn the old accounts office in to two conference rooms. These would provide an ideal location for the company to present and work with new and existing clients.

Planning and Installation

The team at Universal AV Services worked closely with PDL to provide a solution which would provide the type of AV equipment which could cope with their very demanding expectations on quality and functionality. It was vital that any visitor could connect their device (PC,Laptop,Mac or portable device) in to the system in the conference rooms.

Universal AV started work in April 2013 and took two days to complete the works. The major challenge to the installation team was the age and fabric of the building. The installation had to be sympathetic to the character of the building and we liaised closely with the builders to hide all the cables within the walls and ceilings.

Services Provided:

Conference Room One
For the larger of the two rooms an Epson EB-G5750WU projector was selected to be used in the main conference room. This is a full HD projector, providing a native WUXGA resolution of 1920 x 1200 at a light output of 4500 lumens. Not only did this unit provide the high definition resolution that PDL Solutions demanded, but it also provided the company with the flexibility of direct, wireless and network connectivity. This meant that any computer based device could connect to the projector and be viewed on a large screen.

An Extron cable cubby was used to provide a wired interface, offering HDMI, VGA/Audio and Network connectivity. This was populated with the Extron retractor cable system to provide a clean and efficient cable management system.

An Extron MLC 62 MediaLink® Controller was used to provide an easy interface and control of the system.
It offers eight backlit soft touch buttons for a contemporary look and feel. The MLC 62 provides control capabilities for common AV functions including power, input switching, and volume control.

Conference Room Two
For the smaller conference room a Panasonic TH-65PB1E 65″ Interactive Plasma-Display was installed on the wall. This is a full HD display with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and has the extra feature of being an interactive display through the use of an electronic pen. This allows up to four users to simultaneously interact with any PC program by making a contact on the plasma screen.
