Siemens is a global engineering and technology company. The company was established in the UK over 170 years ago and employs around 13,760 people, 100 of which are based in Lincoln.

In 2012 Siemens in Lincoln announced plans to go ahead with relocation plans for its gas turbine service business, which was located across four different sites. The move would consolidate services activities to the new location, as well facilitate growth and expansion, it also represented a significant investment in the Lincoln area.

Teal Park was identified as the preferred site and the purpose built site provided the company with 4,500sqm of office space and 7,300sqm workshop space.

The Brief

Siemens in Lincoln were looking to consolidate its Service Business to the new location of Teal Park. A fully integrated AV solution was required from an Audio Visual Services provider to accommodate the office & workshop facility. A detailed specification was provided for integrators to work to in terms of equipment and the proposed date of installation was September/October 2012 for the Office aspects of the contract.

Planning and Installation

From quotation through to implementation, deadlines had to be adhered to. Universal AV understood the nature of the move and the worked with Siemens and building contractors on timescales to ensure that the project manager could plan for a smooth installation.
Universal AV were appointed to install audio visual solutions into over 30 meeting rooms and communal areas throughout the new office. With deadlines being tight, Universal AV project managers worked closely with Siemens, planning in works over weekends and increasing resource where necessary to ensure that the building was completed on time.

Services Provided:

Meeting rooms were installed with either display solutions or interactive solutions or a combination. Siemens had already carried out research on the types of interactive solutions available within the market and had identified the CTouch interactive screen as the one best placed to meet their needs and benefit the business. Universal AV supplied 17 CTouch screens for various sized meeting spaces including 2 82” Screens to be used in the Board Room and Conference Room.

Digital Signage was also identified as a must by Siemens, with OneLan digital signage being the preferred choice solution. The system had to be capable of showing different messages in different areas, be easy and quick to change and be capable of also being used as a display screen for team meetings. The solution was to install screens in the employee lounges and canteens utilising local outputs which provided Siemens employees with the option to simply plug a laptop in and use the display screen option.
